On October 22, the grand opening of the China GCC Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum was held in Guangzhou, which was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and the People's Government of Guangdong Province. Huang Kunming, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered speeches. Wang Weizhong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor, presided over the opening ceremony. The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasim Budawi, delivered a speech, while officials from relevant departments of Gulf Cooperation Council member states such as Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait made exchange speeches. Chinese and foreign attending leaders jointly announced the opening of the forum. Zhonglin International Group has also been invited by the organizing committee of the conference to explore more cooperation in high-tech industries with other domestic and foreign enterprises.
At the opening ceremony, Huang Kunming, Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, expressed sincere gratitude to friends from all industries and trades who have long cared about and supported Guangdong's reform and development, and extended "Four Warm Welcomes" to the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, guests, and friends:
"We warmly welcome the GCC countries to seize the major opportunity of jointly building the 'Belt and Road', further strengthen economic and trade cooperation, steadily expand the import and export scale of energy resources and characteristic products, and better benefit the people of both sides."
"We warmly welcome everyone to participate in the construction of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, promote more enterprises and institutions to come and layout, and share the achievements of open development."
"We warmly welcome everyone to join hands in promoting technological innovation, promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of development methods, and shaping new driving forces and advantages in mutually beneficial cooperation."
"We warmly welcome everyone to come to Guangdong to experience the unique customs and appreciate the beauty of southern China. We will promote the deepening of cooperation in tourism, culture, sports and other fields between the two regions, enhance mutual trust and understanding, and promote people to people communication."
"The scope of cooperation between China and the sea is very extensive, and the mutually beneficial cooperative relationship has entered a golden period of comprehensive development." H.E.Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, stated at the opening ceremony of the forum that the Gulf Cooperation Council is optimistic about China's development prospects and is willing to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation with China under the framework of jointly building the "Belt and Road" to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
Abdullah bin Tug Almali, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, also believes that the Belt and Road Initiative brings more opportunities for China Arab cooperation. "In recent years, the United Arab Emirates has continued to promote the development of circular economy and, like China, is committed to achieving the goal of "carbon neutrality ". We look forward to further deepening cooperation between the two sides in the field of green development."
In recent years, bilateral cooperation between China and Gulf countries under the Belt and Road Initiative has developed rapidly, and Gulf countries are becoming a hot spot for China's foreign economic and trade cooperation. The GCC countries have all signed cooperation agreements with China to jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative. The development strategies of the GCC countries, such as Saudi Arabia's 2030 Vision, the United Arab Emirates' 50 Year National Development Strategy for the Future, and Oman's 2040 Vision, are accelerating their integration with the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. At present, China maintains its position as the largest trading partner of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the largest exporter of petrochemical products. In 2022, the trade volume between China and the United States reached 315.8 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 35.6%.
Nowadays, "green energy", "electronic information", "digital economy", and "financial technology" are high-frequency words at this forum. "In the areas of green energy, artificial intelligence, digital technology, and digital economy, we hope to attract more Chinese enterprises to join and cooperate more with Bahrain and GCC countries," said Abdullah bin Adili Fahru, Bahrain's Minister of Commerce. The GCC focuses on promoting green and low-carbon development, which has given more Guangdong enterprises opportunities. The deep cultivation of green energy by Zhonglin International Group, headquartered in Guangzhou High tech Development Zone, has attracted the attention of many Gulf country enterprises. As a provider of green energy solutions, Zhonglin Group's technological advantages and accumulated experience in this area are highly complementary to the needs of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. In the near future, Zhonglin Group will continue to promote the development of circular economy, committed to achieving "carbon neutrality", and looks forward to working together with GCC enterprises to create innovative situations in the field of green development.
At this forum, in addition to speeches by Huang Kunming, Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, and H.E.Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, political figures from member countries such as Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait attended and spoke. This not only highlights the international characteristics of this forum, but also reflects the high importance that all parties attach to China GCC economic and trade cooperation.
The "Four Warm Welcomes" delivered by Secretary Huang Kunming fully demonstrates Guangdong's unwavering attitude of expanding opening up. We welcome all parties to seize the major opportunity of jointly building the "Belt and Road", participate in the construction of the Greater Bay Area, work together to promote technological innovation, and come to Guangdong to experience unique customs and appreciate the beauty of southern China.
